So the line in the second panel. I think it would best be read much like the infamous line “What’s to be done about this Homer Simpson?”
I don’t know if this comes across in my work, but if there’s any massive over ridding influence on my life, it’s The Simpson. I know, I know, me and the whole rest of a generation. I have often pondered what it is about those early seasons that still holds me in thrall after all these years. Some say that Conan wrote the best episodes of The Simpsons, but for me that honor belongs to this man:

John Swartzwelder wrote the bulk of what I consider to be the great Simpson’s episodes. There’s a sensibility about those earlier episodes, a fascination with Americana that I feel is lacking in the later series and in most animated sitcoms in general. A joke about the 80′s; funny to some people. A joke about Abe Lincoln; funny to everyone.
