Hank Rollins does a bit on his Think Tank spoken word album about how waiting in line at the airport is like being murdered very slowly by a very tiny knife. I couldn’t help but borrow this line.

I am often overly conscious of time. As if I was always running out of it. In my late 20′s I was stuck in a high paying but often monotonous job. I would spend all day daydreaming about being able to work on comics or spend time with the girl I was in love with at the time. But the bills need to be paid and work needs to be done. These sort of things “use us up, and waste our time.” That of course being a line from this here song.

I think this is a habit of mine. To take one line of a song or any snippet of an idea and hyper extend it if it has some sort of significance to me. Jam in the Band is overloaded with small ideas that I turned into plot points or dialogue.
