There’s some old saying about how if you put a gun on the first page of your novel, it better go off by the last page. WELL… here’s a thread I sort of dropped in that regards. But even then I am not totally sure. In early drafts of the script for the entire Jam in the Band s Graphic Novel arch, Corbin’s dad and the hunting rifle played a larger role.

First I wanted to have this wacky dynamic between the ridiculous lesbian daughter and her bizarrely understanding redneck dad. And second, I was going to use the rifle as something Bianca considers killing with herself with in a moment of deep depression. Of course she doesn’t and near the conclusion of the third book, she would blows up the Pitch Girl touring van by shooting it with the rifle. As the plot of the third book is kind of up in the air right now. I am not sure if I will return to these ideas. If I do, well, I guess I owe you a beer or something.

God, this is gonna be like the octopus scene in the Goonies. As a kid it used to drive me nuts that they left the line in about the octopus but never showed it. I felt like maybe I had rented a bad copy of the movie.
