Alec Dubowski is of course my knock off dollar store version of ‘zine writer Aaron Cometbus. I was reading the part in Despite Everything where he talks about touring around with Green Day way before they were famous. Sleeping in parking lots and having girls ignore them. It was most certainly one of the things that inspired the writing of Jam in the Band.
I always used to imagine Aaron was kind of a schlub until I saw him play drums in Thorns of Life at a house show in Brooklyn. Actually, let’s watch a video of that.
